Astigmatism lenses good index?
I am 48 and have worn glasses since 1968 and rigid gas permeable ring / dual ring contacts from 1988. Unfortunately, my script gives me a greater vision in glasses vs contacts. Need to update my 1.6 high index lenses progressive and confused that manufacture and index is the best for my script. i-zon is impressive due to my aberrations, but the price is too high, so will continue with a good anti-glare. Current script; OD: Sphere -4.00 Cylinder -4.00 Axis 008 OS 31.5 Dist PD: -3.00, -4.00, 169, 30.5 Add 1.75 for both eyes during the reading of near small font-size 4-6 daily work as I look out my lenses or glasses for better clarity. If I wear my multi-bi-focal toric contacts I am forced to add readers. My height of the current target is 30, yet all the styles of the new trend is much lower in height. Am I the strength to choose a lens height 32 or more? All comments are appreciated:)
With progressive lenses (no line multifocal lenses), I would recommend Shamir Autograph progressive II or Varilux Physio 360. They are great high index glasses for patients with astigmatism and come with premium automatic anti-glare treatment. Each of these lens options can also be easily inserted into a frame with a B measurement of 30, and the lens can be adapted to Shamir a segment height as low as 11mm, while the short Physio 360 can be adapted as low as 14mm. These lenses run in the ballpark of $ 500 to $ 700 a set depending on where you buy them.
