Quality Lens
Is there a difference in the quality or focuss of a wide angle lens verses a zoom lens on a nikon D50?
The wide angle lens came with the camera, but I'm getting a zoom lens for christmas. I don't know how many are out there or which one I'm getting, but I'm wondering just in gernal.. the standard zoom lens compared to the wide angle. Is the focuss much different? the quality?

The kit lens on a D50 is 18-55mm. This is considered a "standard zoom". That's probably what you have.
Wide-angle would be 12-24 or 10-20mm. That is also a zoom.
Telephoto zoom is 55-200 and on up.
As for quality, in general you get what you pay for. The 18-55 is considered to be OK for its price.
The new 55-200VR gets very good reviews.
AF-S lenses focus faster than D lenses, but this is generally only noticeable in telephoto zooms.
