Pair Compact
Is it possible to hook up too many nice speakers to a regular stereo? What will happen to the equipment?
I have this stereo:

And these speakers: Boston hd7 (pair) and Boston a70 (pair)... I also have a big sony speaker that's about 3 ft high and a little over a foot across.
I'm not using the original speakers that came with the stereo; right now I have the pair of hd7's and the big sony speaker hooked up to the stereo.
I'm wondering how I can tell if I have too much or too little power, and if so, will this damage the speakers or the stereo? Thanks!
Thanks John! I don't have the manual, but even if I did, I would need to read about ohms, etc.
I guess you found it online. So if I picked a pair and added the big sony box to make 3 total speakers, would it hurt the stereo or the speakers?
Thats a bad idea.
Your stereo is basically a boom-box and is NOT designed to work with other speakers.
Chances are you are under-powering the nice Boston speakers and are destroying them.
Speakers use power to START and STOP movement. When you hook up generic/real speakers to an amp designed only to work with the attached speakers - the amp does NOT have enough power to start and stop the movement of the cones and after a few days/weeks the speakers are destroyed because they slam against their travel limit.
You really need a big black AV Receiver to power those speakers.
