Lightweight Glasses 50
Miniature Wheaton Bottles Display?
I have about 50 of these cool little bottles and they are just collecting dust. What is a unique way to display them? They are translucent, like stained glass, and come in 4 basic colors, it seems. Since they are only about 3" tall, they are fairly lightweight.
Any ideas?
The ideal would be a compartmented curio case with a white Plexiglas back with cool white or daylight fluorescent lighting behind for an even field. You can put a clear Plexiglas front on it. I am thinking of something like this http://www.jpproductsforlife.com/store/media/21923.jpg but more elaborate which would be safer for bottles although this http://www.zipcabs.com/gallery/2554-diecast-cars-curio-case%2036x30x4-mediumoak.jpg is easier to build.
With small diameter (3/4") fluorescent tubes 18" or 24" long, say four of them with small ballasts about the same size - the light box might be as shallow as an inch and with 3" for the bottle shelves, the whole unit could be under 5" thick with 1/4" plywood back. With care in the size of the compartments, you could safely transport the whole collection in place to show it off although if they are as valuable as they might be - opening the case, wrapping each one and putting it back would be worth it.
