Can I still wear wingtips (dress shoes), or are they hopelessly out of style?

I have a nice pair of Johnston and Murphy black wingtips that I wear on the rare occasion when I have to wear a suit. A friend of mine says that a young man (I'm 29) can't wear wingtips. He says they're too out of style and you need some square toe something or other. I have a formal event coming up and would like to make a good impression on the ladies so I am interested in your opinions. Especially women's opinions! Thanks for your help!

You know what? I like the shoes because they give you personality. That said...I don't know if other girls would feel the same way. I see what your friend is saying because the square toe shoes would be more fashionable, but I think that all just depends on you. I agree with your friend that maybe you should update your shoe collection, but I also think you should wear what you will be most comfortable in.
